Overview

Cremeria Buonafede, nestled in the heart of Genoa on Via Luccoli and Via degli Orefici, is a sanctuary for anyone seeking an authentic Italian gelato experience. This artisan ice cream shop is a masterclass in flavor and craft, offering a refined selection that goes beyond typical gelato fare.

The highlight here is undoubtedly their gelato, with a spectrum of flavors ranging from the velvety pistachio and classic hazelnut to the intense Fondente Mono Origine dark chocolate. Each scoop encapsulates the richness of natural ingredients, carefully balanced to satisfy without overwhelming. Their fiordilatte stands out for its unparalleled smoothness, while more adventurous palates will appreciate the semifreddo creations like the Coppa di Semifreddo Alla Pànera, which offers layers of creamy delight marrying tradition with subtle innovation.

Cremeria Buonafede's semifreddo and gelato tubs cater perfectly to sharing or savoring over time, making them ideal for both casual visitors and those looking to bring a taste of Genoa back home. The pasticceria gelata, particularly their Torta "la Siciliana" with its pistachio glaze and ricotta semifreddo, reflects the shop’s dedication to Italian pastry artistry. Complementing these treats is their legendary panna montata—light, airy, and a perfect foil to the rich gelato or krapfen, which are iconic for being customizable with whipped cream or semifreddo.

Despite its intimate size, the shop’s warmth and charm fill the space, inviting both locals and travelers who crave high-quality frozen desserts. The dual locations close to each other can be slightly confusing, but the short walk between them is worth it, especially for those seeking different panna experiences.

Cremeria Buonafede caters to a refined audience that appreciates artisanal quality and authentic ingredients in an unpretentious setting. The staff’s friendly service and willingness to accommodate preferences—like selecting gelato flavors for an affogato—enhance the overall experience. It’s a refined haven in Genoa’s culinary landscape, ideal for those who value tradition with a touch of modern creativity.

Whether indulging in a classic tiramisu, sipping a caffè con panna montata, or exploring the seasonal specials, this gelateria sets a high standard. Its award-winning reputation and thoughtful menu make Cremeria Buonafede a must-visit destination for gelato lovers and anyone eager to explore Italy’s frozen dessert heritage in the city.

Gelato was great. You can also choose which type of gelato comes with your affogato if you wish to have it. Small space. Also google maps will lead you to their old shop because when you arrive there they will tell you to go their new shop which is just like a minute walk.

Cremeria Buonafede is an absolute delight and a must-visit spot for anyone with a love for authentic, high-quality gelato. Tucked away in Genoa, this little gem offers a true taste of Italy’s gelato artistry. The flavors are exceptional—rich, creamy, and bursting with natural ingredients. From classic choices like pistachio and hazelnut to more inventive seasonal creations, every scoop feels like a small masterpiece. Their fiordilatte is particularly noteworthy for its velvety smoothness, while the dark chocolate sorbet will wow any chocolate enthusiast. Tips: • Don’t skip their signature flavor if they have one—it’s often a highlight! • Pair your gelato with one of their homemade waffle cones for the ultimate indulgence. • If you’re not in the mood for gelato, their semifreddo and granita options are also fantastic. In a city known for its culinary heritage, Cremeria Buonafede stands out as a sweet haven. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this is gelato you won’t forget. Highly recommended!

Delicious ice cream! Great service! They also accept card payment which was unexpectedly good! And so much ice cream! We were pleasantly surprised. We ordered chocolate and pistachio from Sicily.

Note that there’s actually two locations really close to each other. One serves more panna than the other.

One not to miss when visiting the area, it has won the red shrimp awards for a reason. Excellent semi frozen gelato, the classic panera beautiful but I also enjoyed the semi frozen gianduja and I think pistachio cheesecake. All very good quality and certainly don’t leave without getting a scoop of panna. Eat it quickly though I had made it 20 seconds out of the shop to find a bench and it had already began significantly melting, never have I eaten gelato so fast! Worth it though. Friendly staff and service. Recommended.

A small ice cream shop that also serves something called "Krapfen con Panna" Good place for a short pit stop while walking the tourist route. A light cream served in sweet bun. Attached photos for reference too.
